Kim Jong Grillin was founded in 2009 by chef Han Ly Hwang and has been an institution in Portland’s food cart scene ever since. Han’s cart focuses on Korean classics and bibim boxes, with a focus on bold flavor and high-quality ingredients.
Over the years it has received mention in outlets such as Bon Appétit, Eater Portland, and Portland Monthly—most notably for Han’s famed KJG hot dog. In their book Raw Dog: The Naked Truth About Hot Dogs, journalist, TV writer and comedian Jamie Loftus included Kim Jong Grillin’s hot dog in their top five favorite hot dogs in the United States
Currently the cart can be found at 77 West Burnside at the southern end of the North Park Blocks.
